NUS Medicine initiates free phone-based hearing test

If you encounter hearing difficulties, clear that doubt with this free five-minute phone-based test initiated by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. It aims to chart the extent of aural problems based on background noise. All calls are free but they have to be made from a landline phone and the service will be available till 31 July.

Jurong Ageing Study to help cut dementia and depression rates

NUS Medicine has embarked on a 10-year study on 600 elderly residents in Jurong to prevent and alleviate symptoms of depression and dementia, an uprising problem due to the ageing population in Asia. A $1.8 million donation from the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho temple will be used for the study. DPM Shanmugaratnam, who is MP for Jurong GRC, highlighted the importance of the study given Singapore‚Äôs ageing population and the need to focus on prevention.

NUS Chancellor visits School of Medicine

Singapore President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam paid his first visit to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) in his capacity as NUS Chancellor on 15 May, to have an insight into the University's medical education and research. At this year's Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Awards, the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine clinched not one but two Green Mark (Platinum) Awards for MD 4/4A and 9! The Green Mark Platinum is the highest tier accorded for green buildings in Singapore and the award is given in recognition of a developer or building owner's sustained efforts and outstanding achievement for a sustainable built environment.
