NUS centre to collaborate with WHO on bioethics

The Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE) was designated a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating centre. Dr Abha Saxena from Ethics and Research Department of WHO presented the WHO Flag to Professor Yeoh Khay Guan and Professor Alastair Campbell after formally announcing the appointment of CBmE as Asia’s first collaborating centre for bioethics under its Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Bioethics.

Project Oranges With Love (OWL) 2014

Project Project OWL is an interprofessional education event initiated by the Social Directorate of Medical Society. Volunteers of different healthcare professions worked together to present oranges and sang familiar Chinese New Year tunes to patients in five hospitals. Study reveals that almost 50% of Singaporeans have high levels of bad cholesterol

A study led by Assistant Professor Khoo Chin Meng from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine has found that 48% of adult Singaporeans have excessive levels of bad cholesterol of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), heightening the risk of heart diseases. Healthy diet, active lifestyle and medication are recommended to keep bad cholesterol at minimal levels.
